The HUT Final Celebration has been cancelled due to weather.
It is with deep sadness that I share with you that after four years, The HUT Youth Development Center will cease operations on December 20, 2012.
It has been a great privilege to work with the city’s youth and lead this organization since its inception, but it is also among my greatest sorrows that The HUT Board has had to make this difficult decision.
The HUT has enjoyed generous support from several private funders and local foundations. However, we have concluded that changing trends in non-profit funding will not allow us to continue providing high quality programming at low or no cost to area youth. That has led to the decision to cease operations.
The HUT ends it operation with immense gratitude to the youth and adults that have served as leaders, mentors, and tutors.
Youth that have participated in HUT programs over the past 4 years are invited to attend a final celebration on Thursday December 20 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Snacks will be provided.

2011 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The HUT provided more than 5125 hours of service to area youth in 2011.
This was 51% increase from 2010.
With sharply declining federal and state funding this was no small feat. One in every two Charles City students receives free or reduced lunch.
Research stongly supports that after school programs are highly effective in improving academic success, improved behavior, and increased community engagement.
Engaged, successful, happy students graduate from high school and become happy, healthy, self supporting adults.
The HUT could not provide these supports to area youth without donations from individuals like you.
Invest in a child today. Your donation is tax deductable and can be sent to The HUT 1110 North Grand Avenue, Charles City, Iowa 50616
